Terraria Server Modding Guide

This guide covers installing Steam Workshop mods on your Terraria server.

Easiest option: use the panel Workshop page to browse, install, and manage mods. See the Steam Workshop panel guide.

  1. Log in to the game panel
  2. Select your Terraria server
  3. Start the server at least once if you haven’t already (so config files generate)
  4. Click Workshop in the server menu
  5. Use Browse or Collections to find and install mods
  6. Restart the server so Workshop content downloads and applies

After installing

  1. Restart the server from the console page
  2. Watch the console for Steam Workshop download lines during startup
  3. Join the server and confirm the mods are active

Only install mods that match your Terraria server version. Mixing incompatible mods can prevent the server from starting or cause join issues.

Troubleshooting

If a mod isn’t working, check:

  1. The server was fully restarted after install
  2. The mod supports your Terraria version
  3. Required dependencies were installed (the panel handles these when possible)
  4. Console/startup logs for Workshop or mod errors
